For this newlywed couple, Kent Development Group, installed a new kitchen within their 1920’s brick Georgian home. Granite counter tops accent the rich two toned maple cabinets. Stainless steel appliances include: commercial stove, ice maker and french door refrigerator. Ample casual seating is within the center island.
In September, 2007 the Mendenhall family hired Kent Development Group
to assist them with the transformation of the former Nite Owl, located in the Historical Oregon District, Dayton, Ohio. Their goal was to open a casual, comfortable American Tavern consisting of good music, food and beer. In conjunction with our kitchen consultant, Kevin Cooney, we created a redevelopment plan that addressed their wants and desires. Through a long and arduous process including zoning and financial setbacks we finally persevered and started demolition Memorial weekend, 2008. Over 6 dumpsters of debris were removed to uncover the original conditions including hand hewn beams, steel beams, heartwood pine floors and brick walls. After rebuilding the floor to one height, we crafted a new featured oak bar. In addition, the kitchen and bathrooms were completely rebuilt. Even through a tight construction schedule Blind Bob’s was able to open on Labor Day weekend. Now patrons can enjoy filling food while listening to a diverse lineup of live music. Stop in and check it out you self.

Recently we completed the historical renovation of the residence located at 520 Hickory Street in Historical South Park. Construction details include sustainable or green design principals for a truly energy efficient historical renovation. Numerous products were reused or recycled including the cabinetry, flooring, windows and door.
For this newlywed couple we completed multiple tasks at their Oakwood residence. Our work included designing and building a couple of custom cabinets, installing a new wood front door, and transforming an upstairs bathroom. Within the kitchen we created a new maple peninsula cabinet with a granite top above. Dan and Xenia plan to use the new peninsula for casual dining and utilizing the open storage below. In the dining room, we transformed a closet into a new custom built-in hutch for china display. In addition, we added integral lighting with glass doors and shelving.
With a new family member on the way, the Holzberg’s challanged KDG to provide them with a functional and elegant eat-in kitchen they could enjoy for many years to come. Therefore we swapped the location of the kitchen and living areas and incorporated the existing exterior deck.
In addition, KDG designed and custom built the kitchen cabinetry and woodburning fireplace, integrating the nostalgic look the homeowners were seeking.
This kitchen renovation was the benchmark
for renovating the entire house. The previous kitchen was a small galley style that did not serve this family well. Therefore upon deciding to move forward, Kent Development Group gutted most of the first floor and started over. As a result the homeowners now have a nice open kitchen, completed with heirloom maple cabinetry, granite countertops with an adjacent breakfast area. In addition, we installed a bank of rear windows and Pella french doors that allows the Hickey’s an expanse view of thier scenic back yard.
This kitchen was renovated with our builder’s
line of maple cabinetry. These affordable cabinets are a great option for the cost conscious consumers. In addition, we incorporated black appliances, recessed can lighting and undercabinet task lighting. Lastly for the flooring, we installed 18″ ceramic tiles set in a diagonal pattern.
For this family located in Franklin, Ohio, we constructed a two story addition consisting of a new first floor kitchen with adjoining family room. Above on the second floor the Nenningers are enjoying a new master bathroom addition. Thanks to the abundance of Pella windows all the new spaces are enjoying the southern sun exposure. In addition, the new master bathroom boasts a lovely Tuscan themed walk-in ceramic tile shower area.
The Abney project is a special project for Kent Development Group and the numerous volunteers and supporters of the project. We decided to reach out and help a deserving family in need as a testament to what the holiday season is truly about. Therefore we were introduced to local South Park residents, Dominique Abney and her two young daughters. When she invited us into her residence it was obvious, the kitchen was in serious disrepair. The clothes washer and kitchen sink was incorrectly plumbed together and leaking so bad the entire cabinet was rotted out. In addition, the window above the sink was flashed incorrectly and also bringing water into the area. Seeing the mold and water saturated walls, it lead us to believe we had to do something for this family.
We contacted our subcontractors, vendors, suppliers and neighbors and asked them to join us in providing the Abneys with a new kitchen for Christmas. The immediate support for the project was humbling. Carter Lumber provided us with new cabinetry. Superior Countertops furnished and installed new laminate countertops. Hughes Supply provided new Moen fixtures. Pella Inc. furnished us with new windows and a storm door. In addition, Dynamic Electrical Solutions, rewired the kitchen and installed new recessed lighting, Plumbing Solution Services and Rasper Plumbing repaired the plumbing system and D & B Pro Painting painted the new kitchen. The Pizza Factory kept us well fed and the support from South Park Historical District and the Miami Valley was incredible. Lastly, Dominique was featured in the Christmas Eve edition of the Dayton Daily News and was quoted, I do not know how I could repay everyone, but all I can do is say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I can really say now this is my home.
We first started working with Ms.Whalen as she was relocating from
New York to Dayton’s South Park Historical District. Before she arrive in Dayton, we replaced her roof, rewired the residence and installed a new high efficient furnace. In addition, we repaired plaster walls and ceilings and renovated the kitchen. The accumulation of her efforts were on display during the December, 2006 “Old time Christmas” holiday home tour.
